Not such a clear blue sky...

I am using S2 for everything from portraits to landscape and have been very happy with my results for the most part. However, I find that even a deep blue sky tends to get light blue. This is the only color that the camera delivers that a am not satishfied with. Due to lack of space I tend to take jpg in max rez and max compression and I wonder if thats my problem. It might also be my color and tone settings, but I have tried to play with that a bit with little results.
Anybody have any experience or thoughts on this problem?
Maybe this is just something I gotta live with??
