Firmware update question

Is it theoretically possible to have a firmware update that would allow for mirror lockup, say when you use the self timer in 2 second mode? This is a feature that I greatly miss in this camera.
Also, having stops in 1/3rds rather then 1/2s would be a nice update.
Just a thougt.
