I was researching this problem today and thankful to have found this super simple solution!

I just took a damp cotton swab and cleaned the area and dried it and the V1 is now funcntioning properly!

Compact: Nikon 1 V1 with 10-30 and 30-110, Coolpix A
Video: Sony NX5U, Canon XA20, Canon HV40, Canon Vixia Mini, GoPro Hero2, Adobe CC
