very much so,  As an experiment take some of your images with people moving in one direction or another and see if you can get a different feelings

we occidentals read left to right so if we are led into a scene from the left to the right and there is a large pole or person or what ever on extreme right we feel blocked and our progress impeded and all that means for emotional impact depending on the thematic material in the image. now when we enter an image from the left and the person or what ever looms large on the left side our eye will pass on bye and sweep right on out of the image  unless there is something to stop it. This is one example there are many many others. but its beyond the scope of our discussion to mention them all as I think this demonstrates well how different compositions can have very different emotional impact.
