this is pretty old thread, but still want to post here if you don't mind. You can use some channels to help you like roku or plex, but you still need to convert them to H.264 for example then playback on your TV, or you can count on some game console which may be a better choice. If you want to convert your mts files, recommend you this video converter from pav, which may be a good one to have a try. At least , I used it and pretty like it.
