Hakuba HG-6230C

The Hakuba HG-6230C is the same tripod as the Velbon Carmagne 630 EXCEPT the metal parts on the Hakuba are aluminum vs. magnesium on the Velbon. The weight difference is about 1/2 pound.

B&H has the HG-6230C for $270:

They also carry the Hakuba 6240, a four leg section model.

FWIW, I own the 6230 and I'm VERY pleased with it. Very sturdy. I've paired it with the Velbon PH-263 magnesium ballhead (the standard model, not the PH-263Q Quick Release model). The combo works well with my 10D.
