Hyperfocal Distance (Pre-Focusing) Help!
Sep 3, 2014

Hey members,

I was trying out some landscape photography using my Nikon 24-70.

I used my DOFcalculator to ensure I get the maximum depth of field ensuring everything in my picture is in focus.

I noticed that sometimes, the hyperfocal distance indicated is not on my len's distance scale (Eg: 5.5 m).

I normally pre-focus by using my len's distance scale, and then switching into Manual focus.

I find that is easier than actually focusing on something that is 5.5m away.

So how do you guys actually match the focus ring to 5.5m when it goes from 2m to Infinity on the distance scale.

Thanks in advance!
