Is 35mm FF equivalent the most versatile focal length?

I got a bunch of FD lenses and a FL reducer for my Sony NEX. My 24mm is good for getting full scenes and landscapes, and on the rare occasion I feel like stopping someone to take a quick portrait the 50mm works. But I find myself reaching for the 35 F/2 the most. When I stop it down it's pretty sharp, and when I open it up it lets me balance between focusing relatively easily and isolating subjects close up. It also balances well with the C3 body- a little front heavy, but I feel like it helps with stability and mitigating shake.

What focal lengths are people gravitating towards for general "street" photography?
