The next round of "entry level" FF cameras from Nikon, Canon, and Sony are going to intersect with the price of the K-3 ii or whatever APSC body Ricoh chooses to follow up the K-3 with.

This end-of-the-road event horizon for APSC dSLRs is almost here, and that spells bad news for a company with no substantial stake in either mirrorless system cameras or FF dSLRs.

The corner they've painted themselves into is all tied up in the lens ecosystem. Pentax has backed APSC for so long that there are almost no FF lenses in the catalog anymore. They will essentially have to start from scratch. Even worse, so will any Pentax user who wants to upgrade. That cuts their user base free to think about changing to Canon or Nikon, both with very attractive FF lineups.

I think moving to FF will drown Ricoh in red ink. The best course is the current one, "steady as she goes" even if the iceberg is in clear view. Ride APSC into the sunset, and wind it down gracefully and profitably, all the while thinking very seriously about a Ricoh-fronted foray into high end compact system cameras to compete with Fuji, Sony, Panasonic and the rest.

all or almost photographer companies have APSC CAMERAS.MANY ARE LEAVING TO FUJI CAMP.
