Display Conundrum
Aug 31, 2014

I've just purchased a Nikon D810 and have had some forum members telling me there is a lot of noise visible in my photos.

After some tooling around I've noticed there is a significant difference in how the D810 images look on monitors with various resolutions.

When processed on a 27" Eizo Coloredge, there is no noticeable noise evident, but if the same image is looked at on a 1920 x 1080 Samsung, there is noise and the quality of the image is not so great. Alternatively, when the same image is looked at on my MacBook Pro with the retina display, it looks even better than the Eizo image.

This is rather strange as I have never seen such a vast difference in image quality dependent on monitor resolution.

Has anyone else noticed this?
