Sharing a 2Tb drive between Mac and PC: formatting
2 months ago

I use a Macbook Pro, my wife uses a Windows laptop.

We have a NAS so at home we can share files through the NAS.  However, I'd like to have all our photos consolidated on one portable hard drive (which I would back up separately). However, by default Mac can't write to NTFS.

Would you rather:

- format the drive as FAT and deal with the 4gb file limit (obviously not an issue for photos, but could be for videos)

- enable NTFS writing on the USB drive using this process:

Anybody using solution no.2? I wouldn't want to corrupt the portable drive...
