blown highlights or badly processed or both?
Aug 30, 2014

Went to the Chinese Garden in Portland yesterday.  These four images show a problem.  I haven't been paying real close attention to quattro failures so I have no idea if this has been encountered before or not.  The first two images show a white area where there should be blue sky.  The third image shows the blue sky.

It could be blown exposure but note both the roof and the sky are ok.  The exposure is set to -.8.  Note also that the same area in the subsequent image is fine where there is an overlap as it is in the image before this.

Both the first and last image are f5.6 @1/500 the two middle are 1/200.  I was using aperture priority and obviously not paying enough attention.  However despite the obvious shortcomings of the shots I still am not sure this is truly blown highlights and may come down to Sigma's processing.

1st shot:

f5.6 1/500

2nd shot:

f5.6 1/200

3rd shot:

f5.6 1/

4th image

f5.6 1/500
