D600 vs D3s for Sports
Aug 24, 2014

This is not a troll. I own both cameras. I shoot sports.

I have to confess I was dead wrong about the D600 not for sports, and no way it can be better than the D3s, the king of low light. I tried to convince myself that it ain't so. After comparing the two cameras indoor under low light using the 85mm f1.8G, and outdoor under sunlight with the 400mm f2.8 VR, I am conviced that the D600 is a better camera for sports, if you don't burst. The D3s has a much higher burst rate (10 vs 4), and that the camera is huge and heavy, and it looks intimitating, but the little D600 is the winner for overall sharpness (24mp vs 12 mp) and for low light noise, at least 2 stops better than the D3s.  Photos taken approx 22m to target.
