Is a slight, continuous noise from XF 18-55mm normal?

*I've peeked around a bit, but failed to see this subject covered. Please feel free to direct as necessary.*

I have just purchased a new X-T1 kit. At two-days into the non-film/manual, digital world, this is a bit new to me. If you are in a fairly quiet room, when the lens goes "active" (ie. the camera power is 'on', and the camera is not in playback-mode), there is a very slight, continuous hum (best I can describe it) coming from the lens. You don't have to put your ear to [the lens], as once you hear it, you always hear it. Everything works perfectly. Playing around with the camera yesterday, I can't say I recall hearing it.

Shutting-off OIS, and going to manual focus and aperture has no affect on the audible noise.

Is this normal? Or should a guy head back to the (very reputable) dealer?

Thanks for any help! Brian.
