Brutal dictators -- we sure do miss 'em

For decades the left has savagely criticized doing business with and supporting brutal dictators. The Shah, Saddam, Gaddafi, Mubarak are all gone. And in a complete reversal the left now talks about how they wish Saddam, Gaddafi, etc. were back. There are leftists right here on this forum who have said things would be better if the old, brutal dictators were still in power. If a brutal dictator in the middle east who can keep the savagery of his people in check ever can get control again then the world has learned it is best to support him, I guess. The realpolitik style of foreign policy that was loathed by the left for so long now has won them over. Idealism is okay for fun discussions over coffee, but in the real world it doesn't always work so well.
