RX100 MkIII - using time-lapse to capture lightning stills
4 months ago

Hi all

A big storm brewed up while I was on holiday and I've wanted to capture lightning for ages so I popped the RX100 on a tripod and set it time lapsing stills for a couple of hours using the app. When I checked the results very few had nice lightning on (it was behind clouds most of the time) but one frame had some impressive forks. Unfortunately the frame had a very dark foreground object (the house). So I found a second frame with the house well light and combined the two together. My layer masking (elements 8) needs work but I like the result.

I also used the time-lapse for shooting fireworks and with some experimentation on exposure and aperture settings that worked quite nicely too.

Regards

Bill
