About to buy first prime. What should it be?

I'm about to buy my first prime. I've been told to get a 50mm 1.4. The reason I'm doing this is that it was suggested that it would help me with composition as the zooms I've been using make it too easy.

The prime forces you to think more about composition and working with the focal length limitations will actually be a great learning tool.

I'm open to suggestions as to which focal length. I usually shoot outdoors, landscapes, cityscapes, architecture, and just a lot of stuff outside. I don't do portraits and very rarely shoot indoors. I'm looking at this as a learning tool. I have other zooms that can get me what I want, but I kind of like the limiting aspect of a prime forcing me to take a different approach.
