Scratched D4 Sensor

Hi there,

I cleaned my D4 sensor today, and some how I managed to put a couple of scratches on the Sensor.

I know what most of you are going to say,I should have had it professionally cleaned.

I have taken a few pictures to see how bad these scratches show up on printed prints, but I honestly can say I can`t see anything.even blown up to A2 size.

I contacted a repair centre called Fixation in London- they quoted £1000 for a new sensor +250 labour, quite an expensive mistake.

surfing the web I noticed an article in outdoor photography  regarding a damaged Canon EOS-1DS, this has a IR cut off filter- so the damaged covering only cost $400-£200

so as anyone experienced the same problem.

Regard

harry
