Street shooting with A7 and manual lenses

I was thinking to shoot with the A7 along with a Canon FD 50mm f1.4 lens, mainly at f5.6 and f8 (the sharpest apertures), using yellow focus peaking. Is it possible to use the manual focus along with the LCD screen in a bright summer day, while walking on a street? I don't want to use zone focusing. So, what do you think? Is it possible? Any experiences? Focus peaking is just a tool and in order to get good results it needs to be used correctly. It is designed to show colour fringes on all edges that have high contrast and this can be distracting as it can find too many such edges in a normal frame and seeing a lot of fringes doesn't automatically mean the frame is in best focus. Right? Then how can I have a confirmation that my focus is correct, without using the zoom focusing? Any ideas?
