I got this idea off of a 'photography challenge' blog. Sometimes when I don't have an idea, I let the internet help me along. I just used the bloggers introduction to the theme, because I couldn't have said it better. .

Numbers help define our lives, our age, family size, wages, spending, time, and so on. People count and label everything with numbers. As a result, those labels surround us. Even in the most rural areas, you can’t drive down the road with seeing addresses, and maybe even the road itself is numbered.

This challenge theme is to shoot numbers. The challenge isn’t finding a number; the challenge is finding a compelling shot. Addresses are easy to find, so try to find a number that isn’t an address

-Unless there is something compelling about that address, like my sample shot for the competition gallery. That is my address with a tree frog on it, I was amazed that little frog walked up my brick walls and perched 5' up on the house number plaque. There was even a spider just under the froggie.

The Challenge starts now, August 21, and it will last until Monday, Sept. 1, at 9 PM GMT, when the voting will commence. Voting will last until Wednesday Sept. 3 at 9 PM GMT. The winner of the Competition gallery will then have the honor and privilege of dreaming up a topic for the next challenge, and moderating it.

Newcomers are totally welcome and encouraged to join the fun. Any 4/3 or m4/3rd camera can enter the Competition gallery with an image captured during the challenge period, and any camera at all can enter the Exhibition gallery with an image taken any time. Just post here if you need assistance to get images into the gallery.

To post a photo in any of the galleries select the gallery of choice from below: Competition or Exhibition or Originals. On the top of the page you will see "edit this gallery", click on that and it will ask for a password. Enter "kickass" (sorry Mom, just keep it lower case) and you should be able to make it from there to upload your image. If you still need assistance be sure to ask.

Add your name after the title, in the caption. PLEASE LIMIT YOUR IMAGE SIZES TO 800 PIXELS OR LESS on the long side, and make sure the file size is NO MORE THAN 200KB. Pbase lets us run these challenges free on their platform, so please honor their generosity by keeping the file size down. Ensure the EXIF data is intact for the competition, with the camera model and the date it was taken (and also if you can its fun to include the lens you used)

I do hope everyone enjoys the theme. I always enjoy the entries!
