Why are my RAWs worse than my SOOC JPEGs?

Why when I process my ARW RAWs on Sony's Image Data Converter the results look worse than the original camera SOOC JPEGs? The original jpegs have better colors and sharpness but my RAWs all result in images with less vivid colors and less perceived sharpness. Why?

Look at the images below, at the mother's face.

The first pic is the camera original jpeg. It looks good.

The second pic is the RAW, and it looks awful. Color is less vivid. Maybe some loss of sharpness too. Why???

What should I do to process my RAWs and make them as good as the SOOC JPEGs? (straight-out-of-camera-JPEG)

camera original SOOC JPEG

RAW (with some cropping)

(photo made with Sigma 19mm f/2.8 lens)
