Minolta MD adapters, are they really that bad?

Hello,

Someone gave me a Mino MD 50 mm f2.0, which I’d like to use on my Sony A55.All information I have read says that all MD/Alpha adapters have a glass element which gives poor IQ results. But nowhere have I found information about how bad the  detoriation there is, let alone  photos that were actually made using such an adapter. Anyone who can help me out?
