$800 for GM1, versus ...
In reply to Richard Franiec, Aug 14, 2014

$800 is a lot for something that cannot boast a red dot.  The household treasurer (SHMBO) will surely veto a splurge on a luxury toy that looks like a toy and does not confer instant social recognition or prestige.  The $800 cost essentially doubles or triples, after one tallies the costs of bribing the keeper of the cookie jar.

There is a devil associated with small size too: image shake.  Without 5-axis in-body stabilization, hand-held video is apt to be shaky.

Besides, there are rumors of an LX8 (or LX9) or maybe a fixed lens m4/3, both with 4k video, to be announced in September.  At which time, the GM1 price could fall to $600.  So why hurry?
