DP2M: Nodal Rail maximum length? 100mm, 140mm, 200mm?

I am about to purchase a nodal rail for the DP2 Merrill. I also happen to have a Canon 6D (24 TS-E II and 24-105L).

Keeping in mind I will be using the nodal rail for both these cameras, I had two questions:

1. What's the maximum length of the nodal rail I can purchase without having it show in the DP2M - used both in vertical and horizontal orientation for pano.

2. If I in the future go wider than 24mm (I may purchase a 14mm or a 16-35mm in the future), what would be the maximum rail length that I could work with?

I understand that for a given focal length, there is no one-size fits all solution and it depends from lens to lens, but I approximations would help me a lot.

I also think there is something like an adjustable length rail but I'm not too sure if anything like this exists. If it does, is that the best option for purchase?

Thanks a lot!
