For a 3.0 ND filter, my 70-200 lens, went w. Heliopan, instead of B+W (which what ALL of my other filters are) ... MISTAKE!!! Maybe Heliopan has a better ND filter than B+W, but not at 3.0.

3.0 ND is my least used filter, which I can come to learn the hard way.

Thank you all, appreciate the advise. I was also looking at the B+W 3.0 filter, and would probably go for that.

I will mostly be using it for waterfalls and slowing down waves around cliffs, is 3.0 too much for that? Should I instead go with a 1.8?

Many thanks.

Prefer 1/8 sec to 1/2 sec shutter times for waterfalls ... more than that, you start losing that appearance of motion.  0.9 ND works great for this range, most of the time.  Every so often, I'll use the 1.8 ND if conditions are very bright.

The 3.0 would be more for flattening out a lake or bay.
