Can I use the Canon Extender 2X-B or 2X-A for 100-300mm f5.6?
Aug 11, 2014

Forgive me if this has already been answered but I'm not 100% sure which extender to buy. I have a Canon FD 100-300mm f5.6 lens. Here's the info I've found online:

The FD 2X-A extender doubles the focal length of the prime lens and is designed for use with any lens with a 300mm focal length or longer, including zoom lenses with 300mm within their range. Using the FD 2X-A converts the 880mm lens to 1600mm, while retaining a minimum shooting distance of 14 meters. The FD 2X-B extender doubles the focal length of any lens with a focal length of less than 300mm, including zoom lenses with 200mm within their range.

Based on how this is worded, I'm thinking I can use either extender. It's a zoom lens with 300mm within it's range and it has focal lengths of less than 300mm. I'm leaning towards the FD 2X-A, but is that right?

Thanks for you help!
