Zuiko 12-40mm aperture question
Aug 11, 2014

My first post to this forum, finally decided it is time to give up my old film Olympus OM-1 and prime lenses as just not using them.

Been looking at the Olympus OM-D EM-1 with the 12-40mm 2.8 lens as a replacement but when almost there on the decision one review (can't find link now) spooked me on the lens.

It said the usual 12-40mm equivalent to 35mm 24-80mm but also said equivalent to 35mm f5.6. That is first time have seen that mentioned and wandered if that is correct, one the main reason buying the lens is the 2.8 aperture as want to be able to take portraits of my toddlers with good background blur.

It being 35mm 5.6 equivalent would put me off as wanted a lower F stop.

Am I missing something with the micro 4/3 conversion, all new to me.

Many thanks
