The Importance of Focus Adjustment
1

I recently bought myself a Tamron 70-200 F2.8, after thinking about it on and off for a couple of years.  The user reviews touted its sharpness, but my initial test photos with my K-3 were soft and disappointing.  I already had a Spyder Lenscal that I had used for my other lenses; I tried a test photo, and it was clear that the Tamron was front-focusing.  I used the AF Fine Adjustment (Menu C, #26) to center the focus, and now the lens is as sharp as advertised.  If you're having problems with softness on lenses that you're sure should be sharp, give the AF Fine Adjustment a try.  Test photos below.
