Decentreing - How does my PL25 stack up?
Aug 10, 2014

So I've been curious about this whole 'lens quality' debate with m43 lenses taking a bit of a shellacking on this forum, so I went the old 'upside down' photo trick with my new Panasonic Leica 25mm f1.4.

As a noob I'm not totally up with how to do this exactly, so I just took two photos in my living room of a painting - camera on the same settings - one with the camera one way up, one with it upside down. Painting is at eye height and I shot it from about 6ft away.

One image is a comparison between the bottom-right corner of the photos, the other is the botton-left. The images represent about 1/8th of the total painting.

RAW files were imported using ACR, composited in Photoshop and exported as jpegs. No adjustments were made.

Can you tell which side of each image is the upside-down shot?

The bottom-left 1/8th corner of the painting.

The bottom-right 1/8th corner of the painting.
