To Crop or Not to Crop?
Aug 6, 2014

Yesterday I tried to fit this scene onto the sensor using the 100-300mm lens (since I was parked on a (left hand) road side and didn't want to cause a traffic hazard by taking the time to change lens/camera.)

An attempt to compose a photograph from some common scenery ...

I suspect that most folks will see my simple-minded approach to composing the above image.   Lots triangles, pointers, contrast, etc. which I tried to combine in an engaging way, from the window of  my truck.

This morning I emailed a few pix to some friends.

One photographer of some note phoned to suggest that I crop it to give it some "power" by removing the "distraction".  No further guidance.

After returning home and  some "reflection" I did that to get the image in the next post.
