I am trying to understand getting a sharp image and this is to do with the lens the camera and the aperture used for a situation.  Most of my work is land/sea scapes.  I realise there is no general formula that can be given to get a really sharp image, but I am trying to find out if it caused by the camera or the lens or the aperture, and how to make a formula to try out.  I have a 5d mk iii and use  a Canon17-40 for landscape.

Canon EOS 5D
