Is the SB-26 a good choice for a first flash?

Hello,

I've been recently thinking of buying a flash because I want to learn to shoot with artificial lighting. But since it'll be my first flash I don't want to spend a lot on it. I stumbled upon the SB-26 and have been reading about it. I don't know much about flashes but what I got was that its TTL won't work on digital bodies but it's auto mode is good enough. It also can be fired wirelessly by other flashes. And here comes my other question - can I trigger it off-camera by using my D90's built-in flash?

And what other flashes would you recommend in the price range up to $150 / €100?

Thanks in advance!
