I don't understand why smaller sensors have less DOF
Aug 5, 2014

Don't get me wrong I believe they do but I just don't understand why...

I must be looking at it wrong.. but I imagine the image circle being cast onto sensor...  whether the sensor is large enough to capture the most of the image circle it can.. or whether a smaller part of the image circle is falling on it..  how does this change the image at all that is falling on the sensor?

Whether the image is blurry or sharp I can only imagine is the same image being projected to that plane - and a crop sensor will only capture a smaller area of that image...  but the image shouldn't change...

So yeah.. where am I going wrong with this?
