Been taken a million times before
9

The night before I took this photo, as I was getting ready to go to bed early, I commented to my wife that I was going to get up at 4:30AM to go take a shot that had already been taken a million times before.  I did, and I like what I wound up with.  But I wonder what the point is to taking a shot that does little more than reproduce an image that can be found everywhere you look.  What do you guys think?  Do you take shots that you know already are established to the point of becoming cliched?  Are the places that yield iconic images too often photographed to be satisfying?  I surely place greater value on shots that I find that are more singular, more my own, but that doesn't stop me from taking the "stand here/point there" images.  Thoughts?
