Sony Flash Overexposure - is this why?

I was trying out the Minolta 35-105mm and the Sony 16-50mm with my new softbox and noticed that the pictures with the minolta are way warmer and not a chance in hell to be overexposed. On the other hand, the 16-50 results are way brighter and the chances for overexposure are very high with slightest of variations. Has anybody else experienced the same?

Attached are both pictures, cropped slightly to remove unnecessary details.

Note: The minolta lens is clear and has no haze or scratches.
