Please note that this thread has morphed into wedding photography. The high end Nikons and Canons were just as restricted by format as were Pentax K1000s.

What the high end Nikons and Canons were very good for, in regard to weddings, was making the photographer into a nuisance. These were not quiet cameras. Having a photographer firing off one of these things at a wedding ceremony was a definite mood killer, and tended to pull attention from the ceremony to the photographer (bad photographer).

They were very good machines, but for weddings, they were not the best choice in the 35mm world.

I started using a Bessa R3a rangefinder for a lot of wedding work in 35mm as it was small and quiet.  F4???  That thing was way to loud and obnoxious!
