How to fix fog caused haze in file...

I am up in Newfoundland shooting, from boats, puffins and other birds that are nesting on an offshore island. Everything is great, except we are often having thick fog that is causing even relatively close shots ( 20 feet ) to be hazy, lacking contrast and color saturation. I am aware of a Photoshop technique of setting amount to 50 , and radius to 20. This has worked on many landscape situations where haze has lessened the contrast and saturation of a distant scene.

This approach has produced negligible results here though. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions to correct the haze produced by actual fog? Any comments will be appreciated. Thanks,

Mike
