Is Canon innovative?

Since the innovative/non-innovative threads ran to max, I thought perhaps starting threads for different brands might further discussion

Since I prefer Canon, I started with that.

I think Canon has not been innovative recently - looking at their history, I believe they are like Apple: they create new areas/release very innovative new products, then spend a lot of time polishing and refining them without showing much innovation.

In film, that shows with the first microprocessor controlled camera (the AE-1), the first PASM camera (the A-1, one of my favorites), then the first electronic lens mount (the EOS EF lens mount still used today).

I am hoping the Canon 70D full sensor PDAF is the leading indicator of another wave of innovation from them.
