Shutter lag

I'm new to the X-E1, having come from the DSLR world.

I have experienced some quite severe shutter-lag recently. By this I mean the difference in time between me hitting the shutter release and the camera actually capturing the shot.

I am wondering if anyone has reduced this lag by pre-focusing and/or setting the exposure prior to depressing the release? I assume that one, or both of focus and metering is the cause for the delay?

Any advice would be appreciated. I don't shoot a lot of fast moving stuff, but it would be nice to know how best to work around the limitations. Or is it a case of building in the lag to your timing (old school!!).
