Weird monochrome fringe on intensely colored flower, wtf is happening here?

This is a JPEG made from the raw that came straight out of the camera (Rebel T5) no color correction.

I don't know if in-camera settings matter but it was daylight white balance, and color mode was a custom one I set up with saturation and sharpness bumped just a hair (like 1 or 2 out of 7 notches). I have auto-lighting optimizer enabled, at lowest strength. Adobe RGB colors.

EF-S 55-250mm lens, at max zoom,
1/160 sec, f/8, ISO 200, default (evaluative) metering.

Where are these weird black fringes coming from at the edges of these purpley-magenta flowers? Every petal has it. Later that day in a separate pic of similarly-colored flowers, I got it again.
