Not a bad interpretation, Sal.

This is shot under the "Heilanman's Umbrella", which is the bridging carrying the some of the High Level platforms out of Glasgow Central station over Argyle Street. Always dark, as the lighting is poor, surfaces are also dark, and a bit messy. There's a McD's adjacent; other fast food outlets, and the bins rarely emptied. The H U separates the upmarket portion of Argyle Street, a major shopping street from the downmarket bit in the background. The stuff under the HU is sliding too.

Not a judgement, just fact.

The posters are part of the Sideways Glance project, a joint venture with Glasgow School of Art to "dress up" empty shopfronts to make them more visually attractive. In this case with reproduction posters, as a lead up to the Commonwealth Games. It's ongoing throughout the city, and others too.

The kids would appear to be football [soccer] fans, supporting Glasgow Rangers, due to the blue "taps" [replica football shirts or clones thereof], and the Union flags. Rangers has a staunch loyalist following.

They won't be homeless. Probably from "Dyed-in-the-wool" Rangers families. Replica kit isn't cheap.

It's a good shot, and technically really well achieved, given the location.
