Sony 70-400 Rolling Shutter
Jul 25, 2014

So I just bought a 70-400mm Sony G lens and put it on my a7s. It had a really bad rolling shutter on it, so I put it on my a77 thinking it would be better because the a7s is known to have rolling shutter issues. Well, it was almost as bad, if not the same on my a77. Same thing with my a99. Is this something that is an issue with the Sony G lens, or is this lens just exposing the flaws of these Alpha cameras? I have a Sony 70-200mm G lens and I haven't noticed this on it before, even at 200 on my 77, which would be 320mm. I just want to make sure that nothing is wrong with my copy, especially since I will be using it a lot for filming wildlife. Thanks! It does shoot great pics though. Here are a few!

400mm shot of cows using a Sony a7s.

400mm shot of cows using an APS-C Sony a65, equaling 640mm.

400mm shot of a sunflower sunset using a Sony a7s.
