D810 AF-S question
Jul 24, 2014

My settings are:

a2 AF-S Priority Selection: Focus

a3 Focus Tracking: off

a4 AF-ON only

a 10 AF assist: off

When I focus with the AF-ON button (e.g on the eye), it beeps to confirm that focus is acquired. I let go of the AF-On button, recompose, press the shutter, and nothing happens. Sometimes it captured a image, but I guess, the area where the focus point was at that time was close to the original focus point.

If I set the focus point back to where it was, when it was acquired (eye), the camera fires as usual.

My D800 with equal (as far as I can tell) settings let's me focus and recompose.

Am I missing some setting somewhere, or does a2 need to be set to "release", to be able to focus and recompose with the D810?

Thank you,

Markus
