How much better images from a6000 vs. old Canon 20D?
Jul 22, 2014

Thinking of buying an a6000 as my DSLR is getting quite out of date (c2004).  I would hope to get better high ISO and better dynamic range, and probably better resolution.

The 20D is 8.2mp, typically I shoot it with the canon 50 1.8 and also the 10-22EFS and the kit 18-55, although I have some longer zooms as well.  I shoot raw, prefer available light, and mostly family, children, vacations, etc.

I also have a RX100 (original) that I bought 2 years ago to get portable, and find I get good results at times with it, but I find that I have to work pretty hard with it to get best results, I think maybe it is too light weight and no view finder contributes to this.

So I am looking for something that is smaller than the 20D but hopefully with better image quality.

I am thinking to start with the 35mm 1.8 OSS lens, and maybe the 20mm pancake.

Thoughts and advice?
