Unhappy with incrementally improved/patched-up models? ie. XXXs, XXXR, X1X

Many camera makers do it:

Sony: RX1->RX1R

Fuji: X100->X100s

And the grandmaster of it, Nikon: D4->D4s, D600->D610, D800/D800E->D810

Even Canon did it long ago: 1D Mark II->ID Mark IIn

Lets forget for a moment why manufacturers do it as I am sure we can come up with many reasons, many of which may shade unfavorable lights on the manufacturers. I wonder how does a user feel when you have just purchased a shinny new model and a year later, your model is superceded by a marginally superior one which supposedly addresses all the "shortcomings" of the model you have bought.
Don't you feel ripped off? What are your thoughts? Does it affect your perspective of the manfacturers and does it influence your future purchase decision (ie. wait for a properly fixed XXXs model etc)?
