D610 and 24-85 or 24-120?
Jul 21, 2014

So the D610 and the 24-85 both have rebates now, resulting in combined $300 savings.

But it would be the 24-120 FX that would replicate the range of my main 16-85 DX walking around lens.

No rebate on the 24-120 so it would cost $900 more. It is suppose to have much better build quality, though the 24-85 seems to get good reviews.

I looked at my library and maybe 6 or 7% of my shots were taken at over 56-57 mm, which would be the DX equivalent of 85 mm FX.

Logically it would not make sense to buy the more expensive lens. I also happen to have a 70-300 that I just got repaired, though it's a step down in IQ.

But I HATE changing lenses out in the field.

Is the image quality of the 24-120, as well as build quality and reach, worth the additional money?
