a6000 + 24mm f/1.8 vs. RX100 III
Jul 15, 2014

I'm seriously considering the a6000 with the 24/1.8 for high-quality low-light hand-held situations. Thing is, the lack of OSS bothers me. As in it REALLY bothers me.

The sensor on the a6000 beats the RX100/3, but the RX has a f/1.8 AND is stabilized to boot, giving me an additional 2-3 stop advantage over the a6000/24mm.

Which to my mind translates to allowing for a slower shutter speed which brings down the ISO which improves image quality dramatically. I'd have to shoot faster with the a6000/24mm, which would require a higher ISO to compensate.

I know the 24mm is one of Sony's best. I'm just not sure that I'd be better off buying a RX100 for the times when I need a low-light indoor camera.

I own the a6000, BTW. It's just that buying a separate camera for that specific situation is significantly cheaper than buying a lens.

Any thoughts?
