D700 Repair Options
Jul 14, 2014

My beloved D700 has a problem.  The metering mode selector switch on the rear of the camera has broken and now turns freely without changing the metering mode.  I bought the camera used over a year ago, so it's out of warranty.  I've owned several Nikon cameras, but have never had one need to be repaired before.

What are my options?  Does it have to go back to Nikon, or can I send it to another reputable repair shop?  I remember reading somewhere a while back that Nikon was no longer making parts available to outside shops.  Is this true?  Unfortunately, there are no camera shops of any kind in my area, so I'll be shipping the camera regardless.

Can anyone suggest a qualified shop other than Nikon?
