Something strange with colors on photos taken with Fuji X10

Look at this crop:

It's from a photo taken today with my Fuji X10, f/5 1/900s, ISO 200 with fill flash, on a sunny day. The sensor has been set to 6 MP instead of 12 MP to gain a dynamic range benefit from EXR mode.

I see patches of colors, as if the image had been saved to GIF with 256 colors, not to JPEG as it has been.

My opinion is that the mixing of the two pixel arrays from the sensor is not quite well thought: EXR mode exposes half the sensor to an exposure value and half to another and then mixes the result. Maybe using the flash has overexposed half of the pixels.
