What would be a good DSLR camera and lens for real estate photography under $1000?

We have apartments for rent, and Sandra comments when the shots take too long to do.

The first camera she accepted for speed of use and published results is the Olympus SZ-30MR pocket P&S. I just bought the Olympus SH-1 pocket P&S, which has a level indicator. I had to calibrate it, and I have to watch that I don't reset the level accidentally, but it works.

The real estate agents I meet also use pocket P&S jobs. A pocket P&S does not intimidate clients.

If you want a DSLR, that is your privilege. But it may distract you from selling and renting real estate.
